A French artificial intelligence startup, Mistral AI, is rapidly gaining momentum and is becoming a standout "dark horse" on the European tech stage.

According to the latest report from the Financial Times, Mistral AI's annual sales may have exceeded $100 million, with its customer base expanding, particularly showing strong performance in markets outside of Europe and the U.S.

In an interview, the company’s CEO, Arthur Mensch, revealed that since early 2025, the company's revenue has tripled. This growth is largely attributed to the rapid influx of international clients. He mentioned that Mistral has already signed contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars, gradually securing a place in the global AI market.

Currently employing around 250 people, Mistral AI is considered one of the fast-growing European AI startups. The company is planning another round of financing worth up to $1 billion to support its continuous R&D investments and global business expansion.

As one of the representatives of the open-source large model camp, Mistral AI has attracted significant market attention in recent years thanks to its technical strength, flexible business model, and commitment to European autonomous technology ecosystems. Industry insiders believe that Mistral has become one of the few non-American companies likely to challenge OpenAI and Anthropic.

In the increasingly competitive global AI landscape, Mistral's rapid growth not only demonstrates the vitality of the European AI ecosystem but also signals new opportunities for non-American tech companies on the path to AI commercialization.
