The innovation of MVDream lies in its ability to produce coherent and consistent 3D images, rather than just piecing together 2D images from different angles. This is primarily due to the training method used by MVDream, which involves training on multi-view images of the same 3D object, enabling the model to learn to generate the 3D shape of the object. In tests, the quality of 3D images generated by MVDream significantly outperforms other similar technologies, essentially avoiding common issues associated with 3D generation. However, the current image resolution of MVDream is still relatively low, at only 256x256 pixels. ByteDance anticipates that in the future, the quality and generalization capabilities can be enhanced by using larger models.
