According to Yicai Business News, Honor has completed personnel adjustments for 38 key positions in its regional department in China. This is an important part of the company-wide organizational transformation initiative called the "Eagle Plan".
It is reported that this competition was open to all employees of Honor domestically and internationally, using the method of "re-competition for promotion". 45% of the position leaders have been adjusted, with 24% of the employees being 90s generation, and the youngest manager is only 27 years old. The entire competition process was live-streamed internally within the company, reflecting the talent philosophy of "the competent take the lead and the incompetent step down".
At the same time as the organizational structure adjustment, the strategic direction has undergone a clear transformation. Internally, Honor has added an AI new industry department, including the establishment of a first-level R&D department for AI and software business, as well as setting up new business model expansion departments and new industry incubation departments. These changes echo Honor's previously announced strategy to invest more than $1 billion over the next five years to build an AI terminal ecosystem, showing the company's high regard for the AI field.
CEO Li Jian, who took office in January this year, is described as a "practical" leader with a strong style. Informants revealed that Li Jian has repeatedly emphasized internally that Honor must be open to Internet companies, AI companies, and the global supply chain to embrace the AI era together. This concept is gradually being implemented through financial investment and organizational transformation.
Market data shows that Honor currently faces some market pressure. According to Canalys data, Honor’s market share in China's mobile phone market last year was 15%, ranking fifth, a decrease of 1 percentage point compared to 2023. However, there has been some improvement in the first quarter of this year. BCI data shows that Honor returned to the top three in China's smartphone sales in week W17, which is the first time since the second quarter of 2024.
In terms of global layout, Honor's overseas sales accounted for more than 50% at the end of last year, entering the top five in some markets. Canalys reports show that Honor's market share in the African market grew by 283% year-over-year in the first quarter of this year, demonstrating the effectiveness of its internationalization strategy.
