Google is conducting an important test on a new search feature that could impact users' search experience. According to the latest tweet from author Jess Weatherbed on social media platform X, Google is testing the replacement of the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button on the search homepage with a new "AI Mode." This change aims to enhance the intelligent experience for users during their searches.
The "I'm Feeling Lucky" button has been a classic feature of the Google search engine. When clicked, it directly opens the first search result without displaying the search results page. However, with the development of artificial intelligence technology, Google seems to be trying to provide users with a more intelligent and personalized search experience by introducing the "AI Mode."
According to Weatherbed's description, Google has invited some users to participate in the test to explore different "AI Mode" design options. In one scenario, the new "AI Mode" button will be placed side by side with the "Reverse Image Search" button. In other test cases, AI mode will directly replace the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button. Additionally, when users hover over the button, they will see a rotating rainbow border, which not only adds fun but may also improve user interaction experiences.
Ashley Thompson, a Google spokesperson, told The Verge that starting May 1st, Google has begun rolling out this "AI Mode" option to a small number of users in the United States. Currently, this feature is still in the experimental stage in Google Labs and has not yet been widely promoted. Google hopes to further enhance the convenience and intelligence of using its search engine through this new function.
