At the Computex conference, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon announced that the company is actively preparing to enter the data center market and will soon launch related products.

In the last moment of his speech, Amon revealed that Qualcomm will release some unique and disruptive technologies in the data center field, which is one of the reasons for Qualcomm's return to this market. It is worth noting that Qualcomm exited the data center market in 2018 due to its failure to successfully launch a server based on the Arm architecture.

Amon mentioned that Qualcomm has some very interesting intellectual property in the CPU field, possibly referring to its acquisition of the Nuvia company in 2021. He stated that CPUs have become particularly important in the AI era, especially in high-performance and low-power design for inference clusters. Although Amon did not disclose the specific product release time, he emphasized that the Qualcomm team is working hard to make significant contributions to the industry.

According to CNBC, Qualcomm plans to launch a customized CPU that can interface and collaborate with Nvidia's GPUs and its software. This news has drawn widespread attention from the industry and brought new expectations to the market.

Amon's speech also focused on the development of AI-powered personal computers. He mentioned that since the release of Qualcomm's Snapdragon X processor, the top 200 applications worldwide have all released versions optimized for this processor, with users spending 93% of their time on these applications. He also mentioned the upcoming native version of the popular game "Fortnite" for Snapdragon, jokingly saying, "There are no disputes with Epic on Windows."

Regarding the future of the market, Amon believed that "urgent investors" have been asking when AI-powered personal computers will truly take off. His response was that applications with autonomous functions will drive consumer and business adoption, providing examples such as certain AI-driven applications helping factory managers improve efficiency and generate monthly reports faster. He also played a video in which Mark Cavage, president of Docker, praised the importance of running AI on devices and mentioned that Docker had ported its development tools to Qualcomm's Snapdragon X PC processor.

Amon believed that Qualcomm's 10% market share in the personal computer market is already quite an achievement, comparing it to the popularity of smartphones. At the same time, he also mentioned the smart experience of multiple devices, emphasizing that AI will help users ensure that all devices understand their "context," thereby better switching between smart glasses, smartphones, and AI-powered personal computers.

Finally, Amon revealed that Qualcomm will announce its new generation of PC processors in September and promised to bring significant performance improvements over the current Snapdragon X series.
