At the Computex exhibition held in Taipei, Samson Hu, co-CEO of Asus, stated that the widespread adoption of the current wave of new artificial intelligence (AI) computers will take until 2026 or even longer to truly drive market development. Despite the anticipation generated by last year’s release of AI computers, Mr. Hu pointed out that the market outlook has not significantly improved, especially against the backdrop of the current unfavorable global economic situation.
With continuous technological advancements, many manufacturers, from Asus to Lenovo, have launched AI computers in hopes of revitalizing the sluggish laptop market. However, Mr. Hu remains optimistic. He noted that the frequent changes in tariffs under the new U.S. administration may further suppress demand for AI computers. Regarding pricing strategies, Mr. Hu revealed that Asus might consider raising prices by up to 10% in the U.S. market to offset the cost pressures caused by tariffs.

Despite the challenges, Mr. Hu remains hopeful about the future of AI technology in the personal computer field. He believes that AI computers have tremendous potential to transform users' work and lifestyle. However, actual application and market acceptance still require time to cultivate, especially when consumer habits have yet to change.
In addition, he mentioned that Asus is actively engaged in R&D efforts to ensure its competitiveness in this field. Despite the unfavorable market environment, Asus continues to focus on innovation, striving to lead industry development.
The future of AI computers is uncertain, but with the continuous maturation of technology, we can still look forward to them bringing more convenience to our lives in the near future.
