Google quickly rolled out its AI video generation tool, Veo3, to 71 new countries just 100 hours after its release. However, this expansion did not yet include EU countries.

This announcement was made by Josh Woodward, vice president of Google's Gemini team, on the X platform. Currently, Gemini Pro users can try 10 Veo3 generation quotas through the web, which is a one-time offer. Gemini Ultra subscribers paying $250 per month can enjoy a daily updated quota in the Flow mode, which is specifically designed for AI film creation, allowing up to 125 generations per month;相比之下, Pro users only get 10.

Veo3 currently has some limitations: it only supports access via the Gemini Pro web version, with the default audio output set to English, and support for other languages is still unstable. Notably, in Flow mode, users will be unable to enable voice output after uploading images.

Despite these access barriers, Veo3 has quickly attracted attention from the AI community due to its high-quality audio-visual generation. Users frequently share video demonstrations on social media, praising its "accurate response" settings.

However, this model has also raised deeper concerns. Some users have demonstrated how to generate false interview content in fictional programs using Veo3. Industry experts point out that if such technology is misused, it can easily create misleading content such as fake protest footage or fabricated event videos, posing a potential threat to the information ecosystem.

The emergence of Veo3 further validates public concerns about the dual nature of generative AI: on one hand, it pushes the boundaries of creative expression and content production; on the other hand, it makes the creation of "believable" misinformation easier than ever before. What once took hours of effort and high technical thresholds can now be achieved with just a prompt.

In the current rapid mainstreaming of AI video generation, awareness of verifying the source of visual content is more important than ever.
