According to the latest report from Axios, Meta has decided to reorganize its artificial intelligence department into two new teams. This adjustment aims to enhance the company's competitiveness in the rapidly developing AI field and ensure that Meta can keep pace with other companies such as OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic.

The new AI teams will be divided into two parts: the AI Product Team and the AGI Foundation Unit. The AI Product Team will focus on developing consumer-facing features, including AI capabilities in Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, as well as Meta's newly launched standalone AI applications. Through these efforts, Meta hopes to further enhance the intelligence of its social platforms and provide users with richer and more personalized experiences.

Meanwhile, the AGI Foundation Unit will focus on longer-term goals, dedicated to enhancing Meta’s Llama model. The Llama model is a key technical foundation for Meta in the field of generative AI applications. The AGI Foundation Unit will concentrate resources and efforts to continuously improve this technology, laying a solid foundation for future AI products.

With OpenAI, Google, and other competitors constantly innovating in the AI field, Meta is clearly accelerating its pace to secure a position in the market. Recently, Meta also launched the "Llama for Startups" program, aiming to encourage startups to use its products and help them succeed in generative AI applications. Additionally, during the LlamaCon event held in April, Meta highlighted its ability to rival OpenAI in competition.
