Opera officially released the new Opera Neon browser on Tuesday. This product is specifically designed for AI workflows and promises to replace users in executing complex tasks such as shopping, filling out forms, and programming.

Core Functions and Subscription Model

Opera Neon is still in its pre-release phase. The company confirmed that after the official release, it will adopt a subscription-based pricing model, but the specific price has not been announced yet. The biggest highlight of this browser is the addition of three new function buttons in the sidebar: chat, execute, and create.

The chat function provides a complete chatbot interface. Users can use it to conduct web searches, get answers to questions, and gain deeper insights into relevant information about the current browsing page.

Breakthroughs in AI Proxy Technology

The "execute" function uses the AI proxy technology of Opera's browser operator launched in March this year. This AI system claims to be able to complete practical tasks such as form filling and travel booking locally within the browser environment, providing users with a truly automated experience.

The most eye-catching feature is the "create" function. Opera states that users only need to provide text prompts, and this function can create various types of content such as games, websites, code snippets, and reports. The AI workflow supporting this function is executed through cloud virtual machines, ensuring that even in offline mode, Neon can handle tasks independently and support parallel multi-task execution.

Market Competition and Real Challenges

Although the functionality description of Opera Neon is impressive, the actual performance of AI applications often falls short of the hype. More importantly, Opera is not the only player in this field. Another browser company previewed a similar AI browser product last December, also focusing on proxy functions. Google is also actively developing related projects, which are not only capable of returning intelligent search results but also plan to integrate AI proxy execution functions.

As major tech companies continue to enter the browser AI proxy market, whether Opera Neon can stand out in fierce competition will depend on its actual performance.
