According to TechCrunch, a Salesforce spokesperson clarified that the company did not "acquire" the AI recruitment startup Moonhub as initially reported. The spokesperson stated that Moonhub is actually shutting down, and only part of its team members will join Salesforce, rather than the entire team as implied in Moonhub's previous announcement.

Founded in 2022 by former Meta engineer Nancy Xu, Moonhub specializes in developing tools that utilize artificial intelligence technology for screening and recruiting talent. Its AI technology can automatically identify job candidates, contact them, and assist with onboarding and payroll management tasks. Moonhub had previously announced that its entire team based in Menlo Park, California, would join its early investor, Salesforce.

Recruitment, Work

In a statement, Nancy Xu said that Salesforce, as both a client and investor, has played a significant role in Moonhub’s development. Both companies share common core values and believe in the importance of artificial intelligence in innovation and opportunities. She also mentioned that Moonhub’s “excellent team” will play a key role in advancing Salesforce’s AI strategy.

Data from Crunchbase shows that Moonhub has raised $14.4 million in funding from investors including Khosla Ventures, AIX Ventures, Day One Ventures, GV (formerly Google Ventures), and Salesforce. It also serves hundreds of clients, including Fortune 500 companies.

Recently, Salesforce has been actively acquiring companies. Last week, it completed the acquisition of data management company Informatica for $8 billion, and last month it acquired automation startup Convergence.ai to strengthen its AI product line. This clarification regarding the Moonhub incident adds complexity to Salesforce’s expansion strategy in the AI field. The application of artificial intelligence in recruitment and other HR processes is becoming increasingly popular. According to a Gallup survey, 93% of chief human resource officers at Fortune 500 companies have begun integrating AI tools to improve efficiency.
