Recently, Google officially launched a new command-line tool - Gemini CLI. This tool is based on Google's self-developed Gemini 2.5 Pro AI model, aiming to provide developers with convenient AI Q&A and content generation services. With Gemini CLI, developers can directly call the powerful capabilities of AI in their own terminal interface, thus improving programming efficiency and work convenience.

One of the highlights of Gemini CLI is its support for a context window of up to 1 million tokens, which means the AI model can process large amounts of information and has stronger understanding capabilities. In addition, Gemini CLI is deeply integrated with Google's Gemini Code Assist code assistant, providing developers with a more seamless user experience. The built-in Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Google search function further enhance the tool's practicality.

In terms of application scenarios, Gemini CLI is not limited to programming, but can also be widely applied in multiple fields such as content generation, task management, and problem solving. Google stated that the launch of this tool will greatly enrich the ways developers work, allowing them to create and develop more easily.

Currently, Gemini CLI is in preview, and developers can obtain a free Gemini Code Assist usage license through their personal Google account. However, it should be noted that the usage quota of this license is limited: a maximum of 60 requests per minute and 1000 requests per day. Although the current use is free, Google has not yet revealed whether it will charge in the future or the charging standards after exceeding the quota.

Google's new tool undoubtedly brings a more efficient way of working for developers and marks its continuous innovation and efforts in the field of artificial intelligence.
