At the latest International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) annual conference, Google announced an exciting new initiative - "Gemini for Education." This project aims to provide teachers and students with powerful AI tools to support educational development. Google stated that this educational version of Gemini will be free and integrated into existing educational programs, ensuring schools can use its advanced Gemini 2.5 Pro model without paying extra fees.

For teachers, the "Gemini in the Classroom" feature is now available to all Workspace for Education users, offering over 30 new features that will significantly improve teaching preparation efficiency. For example, teachers can now instantly generate vocabulary lists, saving time on lesson planning. Additionally, the "Video Overviews" feature introduced at the previous I/O developer conference is now officially launched. It can quickly convert learning materials into short and engaging educational videos, currently available only to students and teachers aged 18 and above.

Notably, some AI features will be offered as paid add-ons. For example, users can now use Veo3 in Google Vids to create eight-second sound effects. Meanwhile, "Gemini in Forms" has started a full rollout, helping teachers create quizzes and surveys more efficiently. This feature can directly extract content from PDFs or Google Slides to generate test questions and automatically summarize student feedback.

For students who are 18 years old or older, the "Gemini Canvas" feature introduced by Google is also highly anticipated. Students can generate personalized quiz questions based on any topic to aid in their review. Google also revealed that this feature will gradually expand to younger students in the coming weeks.

Additionally, NotebookLM will be made available to all grade levels through school accounts, but it will be accompanied by stricter content policies and AI literacy guidance. School administrators can fully manage these services through the Admin Console, including setting permissions and viewing usage reports, and retrieving relevant conversation records via Vault when necessary.

Google's series of new initiatives will greatly promote the development of educational technology, benefiting more teachers and students.
