Google officially announced on Wednesday that it will introduce a new feature called Gemini to its Wear OS smartwatches. This news, first revealed in May this year, has finally come true after nearly two months of waiting. The newly released Gemini feature aims to enhance the user experience of smartwatches.
In addition to Gemini, Google has also enhanced its "Circle to Search" feature, adding an AI mode that makes the search experience more intelligent. When using "Circle to Search," users are no longer limited to traditional text input; they can now conveniently perform information queries by circling, doodling, or tapping on content on the screen. The addition of the AI mode means users can explore complex topics in depth and ask follow-up questions without frequently switching apps.
Google stated that in the coming weeks, smartwatches running Wear OS 4 or higher, including brands such as Pixel, Samsung, OPPO, OnePlus, and Xiaomi, will gradually be compatible with Gemini. Users can interact with Gemini through simple voice commands, such as "Hey Google," by long-pressing the side button of the watch, or by directly clicking the Gemini app icon.
Users can ask Gemini various questions, such as how long to cook sliced vegetables or whether to bring an umbrella today. Additionally, Gemini supports cross-app operations, allowing users to have it summarize email content or add upcoming events to their calendar. Moreover, Gemini can help users remember important information, such as parking locations or shopping lists.
The "Circle to Search" feature has received widespread attention since its launch last year. With the integration of the AI mode, users can obtain richer search results. After initiating a query through "Circle to Search," an "AI Overview" will appear at the bottom of the page. Clicking it allows users to ask follow-up questions and delve deeper into related content. In addition, the AI mode in Google Lens has been optimized, making the usage process simpler, and users on both Android and iOS systems can experience this feature.
Google also mentioned that users can use "Circle to Search" while playing games, for example, to identify new characters in the game or find winning strategies. Meanwhile, the "AI Overview" feature has been improved, with reply content being clearer and easier to read, more effective breakdown of key information, and added visual elements.
Google announced that Pixel 9 Pro users will receive a one-year Google AI Pro subscription service, allowing users to generate short videos with natural audio by simply describing an idea.
