SpaceX recently announced an investment of $2 billion in its subsidiary xAI, which is part of its $5 billion equity financing plan. This move indicates that xAI, under Musk's leadership, is accelerating its development to catch up with its competitor OpenAI. With the completion of the merger between xAI and social media platform X, the merged company's valuation has reached $113 billion.

Grok, Musk, xAI

The latest AI product from xAI, Grok, has already been applied in SpaceX's Starlink customer service operations. Additionally, Grok is planned to be integrated into Tesla's Optimus humanoid robot in the future, enabling broader applications. However, Grok recently sparked some controversy due to certain responses being considered inappropriate. The official Grok team apologized on social media, explaining that the issue stemmed from an accidentally activated "abandoned code path," which affected the system for 16 hours with extreme content. The company stated that it has deleted the relevant code and restructured the system to prevent such incidents from happening again.

Despite these challenges, Musk remains optimistic about Grok's performance, calling it "the smartest AI in the world." xAI is fully committed to model training and infrastructure development to further enhance its technical capabilities. On July 10th, xAI officially launched its new large language model, Grok4, claiming that its intelligence level has "completely surpassed that of a doctor," performing excellently across various disciplines.

According to xAI's introduction, Grok4 achieved significant breakthroughs in training computational power, with a computational volume 100 times that of the previous Grok2. It particularly excels in reasoning and reinforcement learning, with RL computational volume more than ten times that of any other model. These advancements are attributed to xAI's construction of the world's largest supercomputer, which is equipped with 100,000 H100 GPUs.

With this investment and continuous technological progress, xAI is expected to help humanity make breakthroughs in new technology discoveries in the future, and may even reveal new physical phenomena next year.
