Google has recently announced a brand-new AI-powered call-dialing feature, officially rolling it out to U.S. users. This feature uses artificial intelligence to make calls on behalf of users, contacting local businesses to inquire about service availability and pricing, allowing users to easily access information without having to answer the phone themselves.

The launch of this AI calling feature originated from Google's testing phase that began in January this year, where participants tried it out in Google's Search Lab. Users simply need to enter queries like "nearby pet groomers" into the search engine, and a new option will appear in the search results: "Let AI Check Prices." After clicking, users will be asked a few simple questions to help the AI understand the type of service needed, the kind of pet, and the time required. Then, the AI will make a call on behalf of the user to obtain the necessary business information.

In an email, Google stated that all calls made will start with an automated system, clearly informing the business that it is Google acting on behalf of the user. This new feature aims to enhance the user experience, but it is worth noting that Google faced controversy in the past over similar features due to their human-like voice, which confused some users. To address this, Google has promised to clearly identify calls as being made by a robot.

Alongside this new calling feature, Google has also introduced a more powerful Gemini 2.5 Pro model in its AI mode for search functions. This upgrade enables users to receive more accurate answers when asking complex questions. Especially for advanced reasoning tasks such as mathematics and coding, the model performs exceptionally well.

The newly launched "Deep Search" feature is also worth attention. Google states that this feature can save subscribers a significant amount of time, as the AI will conduct hundreds of searches and compile different pieces of information into a comprehensive and properly cited report. Whether it's for job searching, studying, or making major life decisions such as buying a house or financial analysis, Deep Search can provide great assistance.

As the AI mode continues to strengthen, Google is actively challenging other competitors, such as Perplexity AI and OpenAI's ChatGPT Search. In recent years, Google has also launched interactive dialogue features with AI and shopping experiences, aiming to provide users with a more convenient experience.
