In a recent update, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, confirmed that the company is adding a new "Hey Grok" voice activation feature to its in-car AI assistant, Grok. This means that car owners will no longer need to manually activate Grok; they can simply say "Hey Grok" to easily activate this intelligent assistant.

Last week, Tesla officially introduced the Grok assistant to its vehicles, and owners can start Grok through the in-car app launcher or by pressing and holding the voice button on the steering wheel. Although this feature is already available, users have expressed a desire for further improvements. WholeMarsBlog proposed a simple yet practical suggestion, hoping to use "Hey Grok" as the wake-up word. Musk confirmed this and stated that the feature is actively being developed and will soon be rolled out to owners.

Notably, the Grok assistant is currently only available for Tesla vehicles equipped with AMD chips, and users need to enable premium connectivity service (Premium Connectivity) or use Wi-Fi to use it normally. In addition, the current Grok assistant does not have the ability to directly control the vehicle, and operations such as adjusting the air conditioning, navigation, or media playback still need to be done manually.

With the launch of this voice activation feature, Tesla hopes to further enhance the user experience, allowing drivers to enjoy a smarter and more convenient driving life. The introduction of the Grok assistant also marks another important advancement for Tesla in the field of artificial intelligence. In the future, drivers may look forward to more practical smart features.

Musk has previously hinted that the Grok assistant will play an increasingly important role in Tesla vehicles, and future automotive technology will become more intelligent. The launch of the "Hey Grok" feature undoubtedly adds new momentum to Tesla's path toward intelligence.
