Groq was founded in 2016. Its founder, Jonathan Ross, previously worked at Google, where he was responsible for developing its Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) chips. The company successfully raised $640 million in August 2024, with a valuation of $2.8 billion. Within just one year, its valuation doubled, showing strong development momentum in the AI field.

This financing round was led by the Austin-based investment firm Disruptive. The previous round was led by BlackRock, with other participants including Neuberger Berman, Type One Ventures, Cisco, KDDI, and the Samsung Catalyst Fund.

Groq's recent progress has also drawn significant attention. In May this year, the company reached a exclusive partnership with Bell Canada to support its large-scale AI infrastructure project. At the same time, Groq also collaborated with Meta in April to provide AI infrastructure to accelerate Llama4's reasoning. These series of collaborations and funding activities have further solidified Groq's position in the AI chip sector.

It is worth noting that although Groq has completed multiple rounds of financing, with total funding exceeding $1 billion, as the demand for AI chips grows, the future prospects of Groq are widely optimistic. Although the company has not yet made an official comment on this financing and collaboration, its reputation and technical strength in the industry have made the market full of expectations for its future.
