Quora's AI platform Poe announced on Thursday the launch of a developer API, aimed at helping developers easily integrate various models or bots to provide powerful AI features for their applications. This API is free of charge, and usage will be tracked through Poe's existing credit subscription plan, with each model call consuming a certain number of credits.
Specifically, Poe's subscription plans include a basic plan for $4.99 per month (10,000 credits per day), a standard plan for $19.99 per month (1 million credits per month), an advanced plan for $49.99 per month (2.5 million credits per month), a professional plan for $99.99 per month (5 million credits per month), and an enterprise plan for $249.99 per month (12.5 million credits per month). In addition, developers can purchase 1 million extra credits for $30. Credits are not sold in fixed packages, and users can pay any amount they need to get the corresponding credits.
Through this API, developers can support tools such as Cursor, Cline, Continue, and Roo. These tools can be used in conjunction with OpenAI compatible chat completion APIs. Poe currently offers over 100 multimodal models spanning text, image, video, and voice generation, including Imagen4, GPT Image1, Flux Kontext, Seedream3.0, Veo3, Runway Gen4Turbo, Kling2.1, ElevenLabs, and Lyria.
Gareth Jones, Poe's product manager, said in an interview with TechCrunch: "Currently, we are working to allow developers to use private robots they have built on Poe via API. In addition, we are also considering providing better API key management for developers."
Although this API provides various ways to use models, Poe has also launched consumer-facing tools. Earlier this year, the company introduced a new approach that allows users to easily create AI-driven applications and provided templates for building server bots, prompt bots, and image generation bots.
Currently, developers need to manually select and manage the use of models. Jones said that the company will consider adding budget management features in the future based on feedback from developers.
