McDonald's recently announced that it plans to double the scale of its artificial intelligence (AI) applications by 2027, with India becoming a core country in this strategy. McDonald's has selected Hyderabad as its largest office center outside the United States, and this new center will focus on data governance, engineering development, and platform architecture construction.

According to Deshant Kaila, head of global business services operations at McDonald's, the project for the office center in India is still in its early stages, and the specific investment amount has not been determined yet. However, the company's priority direction is clear. McDonald's aims to develop intelligent ordering, sales forecasting, dynamic pricing, and performance tracking systems using AI technology. In addition, the company is developing a personalized application that supports cross-border use.
McDonald's has already deployed AI order verification systems in 400 restaurants worldwide, which can automatically identify and correct errors before customers pick up their meals. Durga Prakash, head of McDonald's global technology office, revealed that this technology is expected to be expanded to 40,000 stores worldwide by 2027, which is crucial for improving operational efficiency.
McDonald's layout in India mainly focuses on the development of technical tools rather than large-scale personnel expansion. The company plans to cultivate a rich reserve of AI talent in India. In addition to India, McDonald's is also considering establishing a global office in Poland, which will form three core operating centers together with India and Mexico.
Earlier this year, the Telangana state government announced that McDonald's will establish a global capability center in Hyderabad, which is expected to create about 2,000 jobs. As the business develops, India's global capability center has transformed from a low-cost outsourcing base into a high-end operational hub supporting strategic decision-making and R&D. This transformation marks a new stage in McDonald's global layout.
