According to AIbase, the AI giant OpenAI has recently announced a significant move: within the next year, it will offer its flagship product, ChatGPT Enterprise, to U.S. federal agencies at a symbolic price of $1 per subscription. This initiative aims to allow staff in the federal executive branch to "nearly freely" access its cutting-edge technology.
This strategy is part of OpenAI's long-term plan to strengthen its ties with U.S. legislators and regulators. The company plans to open its first office in Washington D.C. early next year, further deepening its influence in the government sector.
This program was launched in collaboration with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). Participating federal agencies will not only be able to use OpenAI's advanced models but also get access to additional features such as the premium voice mode for 60 days. OpenAI emphasized in a blog post: "Helping the government operate more effectively, making services faster, easier, and more reliable, is a key way to ensure that the benefits of artificial intelligence are available to everyone."
This new program follows OpenAI's launch of the "OpenAI for Government" service earlier this year. Previously, the company had already secured a contract worth $2 billion from the U.S. Department of Defense.
In terms of business development, OpenAI is currently negotiating a new round of equity sales with investors, and the company's valuation could reach $500 billion. In March of this year, the company completed a $40 billion funding round, and at that time, its valuation had reached $30 billion, setting a record for the largest private tech company fundraising in history.
