According to a recent study by Google Cloud, about 87% of game developers use AI tools in their work. The study, conducted in collaboration with Harris Poll, surveyed 615 developers from the United States, South Korea, Sweden, Finland, and Norway between late June and early July 2025. Most respondents said that AI helps automate repetitive tasks, allowing them to focus on more creative work.

The study shows that about 44% of developers use AI agents to optimize content and quickly process information such as text, voice, code, audio, and video. With the development of technology, an increasing number of game developers are relying on AI to improve work efficiency and save time.
In addition, the study found that 94% of developers expect that AI will reduce overall development costs in the long run. However, about a quarter of the respondents said they could not clearly measure the return on investment of AI. For an industry where development costs are already rising, the cost of integrating new technologies should not be ignored either.
In this context, 64% of developers expressed concerns about data ownership. There are many questions in this field regarding the legality of using content to train large language models, which have even led to legal disputes, similar to the case of Meta. At the same time, the introduction of AI has also raised concerns about the possible loss of jobs for many professionals. In 2024 alone, over 14,000 people were laid off in the gaming industry, and this number is expected to be higher by 2025.
