America recently launched a new AI shopping tool called Lens Live. This upgraded version of Amazon Lens is designed to help users discover new products through visual search, competing with rivals like Google Lens and Pinterest Lens. The unique feature of Lens Live is that it can recognize items in real-time that users see in the real world and present scrollable product recommendations at the bottom of the phone screen.

Although Lens Live does not conflict with Amazon's existing visual search tool Amazon Lens, which allows users to take photos, upload images, or scan barcodes to find products, Lens Live adds real-time interactivity. Users simply need to point their phone at an item to see matching product recommendations, greatly improving the convenience of shopping.

This feature is another demonstration of Amazon's ongoing efforts in applying AI technology. In the past year, Amazon has launched several AI-driven shopping features, such as the AI assistant Rufus, AI shopping guides, AI-enhanced product reviews, tools to help find suitable clothing, and AI tools for merchants. Lens Live is designed to meet consumers who are accustomed to price comparisons in physical stores, allowing them to find better purchasing options anytime and anywhere.

When using Lens Live, users can touch any item in the camera view, and the system will focus and match it. If users find a product they are interested in, they can simply click the "+" icon to add it to their cart or click the heart icon to save it to their wish list. All of this is made possible by Amazon SageMaker service, which supports large-scale machine learning model deployment and runs on AWS-managed Amazon OpenSearch platform.

In addition, the AI assistant Rufus also plays an important role in the new Lens Live experience, helping users obtain AI-generated product summaries and suggestions for related questions. This means consumers can quickly research products before purchasing and gain more product insights.
