Privacy-focused consumer tech company DuckDuckGo announced on Thursday that its existing subscription service will undergo a major upgrade, allowing users to access a range of the latest advanced AI models through its Duck.ai chatbot at no additional cost.
Last year, DuckDuckGo launched a $9.99 monthly subscription plan that bundled three core privacy protection services: a VPN, personal data removal, and identity theft recovery. Now, the value of this subscription has been further enhanced.
Previously, users could access multiple models through the free version of Duck.ai, including Anthropic's Claude 3.5 Haiku, Meta's Llama 4 Scout, Mistral AI's Mistral Small 324B, and OpenAI's GPT-4o mini.
After the upgrade, users with the $9.99 monthly subscription will unlock more powerful models, including OpenAI's GPT-4o and the highly anticipated GPT-5, Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4, and Meta's Llama Maverick.
DuckDuckGo stated in a blog post: "These larger models are better at following detailed instructions, maintaining context over long conversations, and providing deeper, more nuanced responses. The DuckDuckGo subscription service offers a way to use these top-tier models while enhancing privacy protection."
This move provides an attractive option for users who want to experience the latest AI models from different vendors on a single platform while placing a high priority on personal privacy. Among similar services, Poe, owned by Quora, also offers access to multiple models, starting at $5 per month.
