At the Cloud Summit in Hangzhou, Jack Ma, CEO of Alibaba Group, delivered a keynote speech, where he systematically outlined Alibaba's strategic vision for the future development of artificial intelligence for the first time. He stated that although the realization of general artificial intelligence (AGI) is inevitable, this is not the end; the ultimate goal of humanity is to develop a super artificial intelligence (ASI) that can self-iterate and surpass humans in all aspects.
Jack Ma divided the path towards ASI into three key stages: The first stage: "Intelligence Emergence": AI, by learning vast amounts of knowledge, has acquired generalized intelligence. The second stage: "Autonomous Action": AI has mastered the ability to use tools and programming to assist humans. Jack Ma pointed out that this is the current stage the industry is in. The third stage: "Self-Iteration": AI achieves intelligence surpassing humans through interaction with the physical world and autonomous learning.
To achieve this grand goal, Jack Ma clarified Alibaba Cloud's strategic path: Building an "Android for the AI era": Tongyi Qianwen of Alibaba Cloud will firmly follow an open-source and open approach, aiming to build a strong developer ecosystem. Building a "Next-Generation Computer": Alibaba Cloud will create a super AI cloud to provide intelligent computing networks worldwide.
To support this vision, Jack Ma revealed that Alibaba is actively advancing a three-year AI infrastructure construction plan with an investment of 38 billion yuan, and pledged to continue increasing investments. He predicted that to prepare for the arrival of the ASI era, by 2032, the energy consumption scale of Alibaba Cloud's global data centers will be ten times that of 2022.
Jack Ma emphasized that AI will become the next generation of operating system, and the super AI cloud will be the next generation of computer. He expressed optimism, stating that in the future, humans and AI will collaborate in entirely new ways. AI will exponentially amplify human intelligence, drive technological breakthroughs, and lead us into an unprecedented intelligent era.
