According to a report by renowned Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is testing a major overhaul of Siri through an internal chatbot called Veritas. This move aims to accelerate Apple's efforts to catch up in the increasingly fierce artificial intelligence competition.
The new generation of Siri has been delayed multiple times, and the debut of Apple's "Apple Intelligence" received a relatively lukewarm response. The Veritas platform provides Apple with an efficient environment for developing and testing new Siri features, and it can quickly collect employee feedback. These new features will include "searching personal data" and performing "in-app operations such as editing photos," significantly enhancing Siri's practicality.
Gurman revealed that the way Veritas is used is similar to popular tools like ChatGPT and Gemini. Apple employees can engage in conversations by entering requests and review past interactions. However, Gurman believes this move is a mistake by Apple, as Veritas is not planned to be released to consumers at least for now, and will only be available internally. This further indicates that Apple is likely to continue relying on its collaboration with Google for artificial intelligence search and use its Gemini model.
