Text: In the upcoming 2025-2026 NBA season, Amazon Web Services (AWS) will provide fans with a new basketball analytics experience through its newly launched basketball intelligence platform "NBA Inside the Game." This platform will use advanced artificial intelligence and detailed motion tracking technology to present more detailed player data to fans, allowing them to understand all aspects of the game in real time.

The core of this new technology lies in tracking 29 body parts of each player on the court, although the specific body parts and tracking methods have not been disclosed. With these data, the AI system can provide some previously unseen basketball statistics to help analyze player performance. For example, in addition to traditional shooting accuracy, fans can now also see a new statistic called "expected shooting accuracy." This metric predicts the likelihood of a successful shot by considering factors such as the shooter's posture, direction during the shot, and the position of defensive players.

Additionally, a new "gravity" statistic will measure each player's "advantage" on the court. This statistic aims to track the movement of players and their defenders, analyzing the defensive pressure they face when holding the ball and when not, as well as how they create favorable offensive space for teammates. At the same time, a new "defensive box score" statistic for defensive players will be introduced, detailing typical data displayed by defensive players during games, such as rebounds and blocks.

For die-hard fans who want to delve deeper into the details of the game, AWS has also launched a tool called "Play Finder." Through this tool, fans can search for specific game clips and get a more personalized viewing experience. The new statistics will not only be shown during live NBA games but will also be available on the NBA website and mobile app.

It is worth noting that real-time analysis technology is not exclusive to the NBA. Other major sports leagues such as the NFL and MLB are also using similar technologies for game tracking. Amazon's collaboration with the NBA is not the first. In 2024, the two parties reached an 11-year media rights agreement, allowing 66 regular-season games to be broadcast on Prime Video. This new agreement also makes AWS the official cloud service and cloud AI partner of the NBA and its affiliated leagues, including the WNBA.
