Mozilla recently announced that its Firefox browser has officially integrated the AI-powered Perplexity answer engine, making it a new choice for users. This move allows Firefox users to enjoy the convenience of AI technology without switching browsers. Unlike new browsers launched by other AI companies, Mozilla chose to add Perplexity to the existing Firefox, offering users more options.

Users can now easily change the default search engine in Firefox settings, placing Perplexity alongside traditional search engines such as Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo. During the previous testing phase, Mozilla only opened this feature to users in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The positive user feedback led to the decision to expand this feature to all desktop users globally, with plans to extend it to mobile devices in the coming months.

The biggest feature of the Perplexity engine is its conversational search experience, which provides users with direct answers with authoritative citations, rather than simply listing web links.

This new search experience appears within the unified search button in the Firefox address bar, allowing users to choose to use Perplexity search at any time, and even set it as the default search engine. Mozilla also stated that in the future, more AI answer engines may be introduced to enrich the user's search experience. One reason for choosing Perplexity is its commitment not to share or sell users' personal data, ensuring user privacy.

In addition, Mozilla has launched a multi-profile feature, which is now available to all users after months of testing. It allows users to quickly switch between different browser configurations for work, study, and personal use. The launch of this feature further enhances the user-friendliness of Firefox.

At the same time, desktop users who still have Google as their default search engine will also participate in the test of the Google Lens visual search feature. This move by Firefox to integrate an AI answer engine demonstrates Mozilla's emphasis on user privacy and personalized experience, and is expected to promote the popularity of AI search in mainstream browsers.
