Google has made significant upgrades to its AI video generation tool Flow, allowing users to create more realistic and indistinguishable AI-generated videos. In the Veo3.1 update released on Wednesday, the company added the ability to edit shadows and lighting in videos, significantly enhancing the flexibility and realism of video production.
According to Google, Flow users can now adjust the lighting effects in videos with this update, thereby increasing the naturalness of the generated content.
In terms of audio, Flow has also seen major enhancements. Users can now generate videos with audio based on three reference images, a feature called "raw material for videos." Additionally, the "Image to Video" feature allows users to create a coherent video between a starting and ending image, accompanied by corresponding audio. Furthermore, Flow has introduced a "Scene Expansion" feature, enabling users to add extra generated video content of up to one minute at the end of a video, complete with generated audio as well.
The pricing of Veo3.1 is the same as Veo3. It is currently available as a "paid preview" through the Gemini API for developers, and it is also available in the Gemini app. Google also mentioned that Flow users will soon be able to remove "any" object from a video, with the tool automatically reconstructing the background and scene, making the video look as if those objects were never there.
