Apple recently launched a new 14-inch MacBook Pro equipped with the M5 chip. This is Apple's first Mac processor specifically optimized for AI tasks, highlighting local AI computing capabilities as a core feature and achieving a battery life of up to 24 hours.

The M5 chip features a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU configuration, with each GPU core containing a neural network acceleration unit designed specifically for AI computing tasks. The chip also integrates a third-generation ray tracing engine and dynamic cache technology, which can dynamically allocate video memory resources based on task requirements, improving the actual utilization efficiency of the GPU. According to Apple's data, the AI performance of the M5 chip is six times that of the original M1 chip, supporting local execution of computationally intensive tasks such as large language models, image generation, and diffusion model inference.

From an application perspective, the M5 MacBook Pro can natively run local large language model environments such as LM Studio. This localized deployment method avoids network latency caused by cloud API calls and eliminates the potential privacy risks of uploading sensitive data to the cloud.
