Amid the intense competition in the smart wearable device market, Google is betting on AI to inject new vitality into Fitbit. After its initial announcement this August, the "Fitbit Coach" feature powered by the Gemini large model will be available for public preview starting tomorrow for Android users in the United States, with the iOS version expected to launch later this year. This feature is designed specifically for Fitbit Premium subscribers, aiming to become a 24/7 AI health partner that integrates fitness training, sleep optimization, and health guidance.

Different from traditional pre-designed plans, the core advantage of Coach lies in its high personalization and dynamic adaptability. Users simply need to input their goals—for example, "I want to run farther without getting out of breath"—and the AI will generate a personalized training plan based on your fitness level, available equipment, and historical data. More importantly, it can adjust the plan in real time: if you report fatigue during exercise or get injured a week later, Coach will immediately optimize subsequent arrangements to ensure safety and sustainability.
Sleep management is also a key focus. Coach will analyze your sleep structure, frequency of nighttime awakenings, and duration of deep sleep, and provide actionable improvement suggestions, such as adjusting bedtime or reducing exposure to blue light in the evening. All insights are based on physiological data collected by Fitbit devices and analyzed through multi-dimensional correlation reasoning by the Gemini model, making the recommendations more than just general advice.

Alongside the launch of Coach, the Fitbit app has also undergone a complete redesign, featuring a more simple and intuitive four-tab navigation:
- Today: As an information hub, it centrally displays weekly cardiovascular load and key health metrics, supporting custom data tracking;
- Fitness: Manages training plans, tracks steps and aerobic goals, but features like nutrition logging and menstrual cycle tracking are not yet available;
- Sleep: Provides a night-time sleep summary and AI-optimized suggestions, clearly showing details such as how often you wake up;
- Health: Compiles core physiological indicators such as respiratory rate, blood oxygen saturation, and resting heart rate, building a comprehensive health profile.
To experience this preview feature, users must have an active Fitbit Premium subscription and compatible devices, including Fitbit smartwatches, trackers, or Pixel Watch.
