Under the context of CCTV's Social and Legal Channel focusing on the issue of AI-generated fake news, Li Liang, Vice President of ByteDance Group, publicly stated today that "AI and algorithms are both tools, and AI makes it easier to create rumors," and emphasized that rumor management is one of the most important tasks for ByteDance this year.
Li Liang pointed out that the platform is actively using technical methods to manage rumors with AI. He revealed that in recent months, ByteDance colleagues have tried to use large model capabilities to manage rumors, and have developed an "Intelligent Agent for Rumor Management," which can quickly search for authoritative content across the web and proactively identify and handle rumors.
However, Li Liang emphasized that technology is not a panacea, "technology is just a means." He called for joint efforts from all sectors of society to tackle the sources of rumors, requiring media organizations, government platforms, and every user to provide clues for refuting rumors and authoritative evidence.
He reiterated that ByteDance will continue to improve its product functions and strive to build a safe and trustworthy platform environment together with users.
