Google Translate has recently introduced a new feature in its app — the translation mode selector, allowing users to switch between "Quick" and "Advanced" translation modes. This mode selector is located below the "Google Translate" logo at the top of the app, with "Advanced" as the default option.

Users can simply tap this pill-shaped button to open the bottom menu titled "Select Text Translation Model." In short, the "Advanced" mode is suitable for complex translations that require high accuracy, while the "Quick" mode is more appropriate for quickly obtaining translation results.
Google noted that the "Advanced" mode supports text translation only in certain languages. Additionally, this design is similar to Google's recently launched Gemini app, although Google has moved it to the prompt box. As for whether this new feature is free, there is currently no clear information, and the interface does not indicate it is a paid function. Perhaps this feature will be combined with other model selectors like Google AI Pro.
Currently, this feature update has been seen on some iOS devices, but there is no information about it on Android devices. Earlier in August, Google stated that thanks to the support of the "Gemini model," Google Translate has made significant progress in translation quality, multimodal translation, and text-to-speech (TTS) functions.
Additionally, the iOS version of Google Translate also added a control center widget at the end of September, supporting camera, text translation, voice recognition, and conversation functions, further enhancing the user experience. This feature resonates with the control center shortcuts provided by other Google apps, such as Gemini and the search app.
