Copy TikTok Experience, 1 Million Downloads in Five Days

Previously, Sora was launched on the iOS platform this September and achieved an impressive 1 million downloads in just five days. The app focuses on a short video browsing experience similar to TikTok and has gained popularity with its unique "Cameo" feature. Through "Cameo," users or their friends can easily "become" the main character of a video and directly participate in AI-driven video creation.

Dealing with Deepfakes and Copyright Challenges: Launching the "Character Cameo" Mode

As Sora's popularity soared, it also sparked widespread discussions about deepfake and copyright protection issues.

To balance innovation and rights, OpenAI recently updated its policies, allowing copyright holders to choose not to be used for AI content creation. In addition, OpenAI has launched a new "Character Cameo" feature, allowing users to create reusable virtual characters.

OpenAI plans to commercialize this model in the future: if certain characters become popular, copyright holders will be able to earn additional revenue from the use of the characters, thus creating a brand-new business model for the creator ecosystem.
