Switzerland's Mimic Robotics recently announced that it has successfully raised $16 million to advance its cutting-edge physical AI technology in manufacturing and logistics, aiming to develop robots capable of performing complex dexterous tasks, thereby reinforcing Europe's leadership in the field of general robotics.

This round of funding was led by Elaia, with participation from several other investment institutions, bringing Mimic's total fundraising over $20 million. The funds will be used to accelerate the development of Mimic's foundational AI model and humanoid robot hands, while also promoting collaborations with leading global companies.
Currently, factories around the world still rely on a large amount of complex manual operations, and traditional robots struggle to handle these complex tasks. In industries such as manufacturing, assembly, and logistics, with the worsening labor shortage and the trend of "reshoring" production, the demand for smart and flexible robots is becoming increasingly urgent. Although some major tech companies have invested heavily in humanoid robots, practical applications remain limited due to issues such as safety, regulation, and high costs.
Stephan-Daniel Gravert, co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Mimic, said: "Humanoid robots are indeed exciting, but in industrial scenarios, the value of their full-body form is not obvious." Mimic provides a simpler, more reliable, and faster-deployable solution by combining AI-driven dexterous robot hands with existing robotic arms.
Mimic's technology has already been piloted with some top manufacturers, including multiple Fortune 500 companies and global automotive brands. In addition, Mimic has also partnered with some international logistics companies, with strong market demand.
Mimic Robotics was founded in 2024 as a branch of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, with a team consisting of 25 engineers, researchers, and operators. In the past year, the company received non-dilutive funding from the Swiss Federal Innovation Agency and was selected as part of the AWS Generative AI Accelerator program, aimed at early-stage companies solving real-world problems.
