Amazon Prime Video has announced the launch of an AI-generated feature called "Video Recaps," which uses large models to automatically edit, synchronize voiceovers, and add music, creating "theatrical" season highlights for viewers. This feature is now available in Beta form, initially supporting Prime Originals such as "Fallout," "Jack Ryan," and "Upload." The company plans to expand it to more original series and licensed content in the future.

Different from the "X-Ray Recaps" text summaries introduced in 2024, the new feature directly outputs playable videos lasting 2-5 minutes, with spoilers-free content. Amazon stated that the model identifies key scenes, character arcs, and climax conflicts, automatically generates scripts, matches suitable music, and then renders the video through a video pipeline, all without any manual editing.

In terms of competition, YouTube TV won the first technical Emmy Award for its "Key Plays" feature; Netflix has used generative AI in finished productions, including the building collapse scene in "The Eternaut" and the age-reversal opening scene in "Happy Gilmore 2." Prime Video emphasized that currently, AI is only used for "replay assistance" and does not participate in the creation of main content, to alleviate concerns from artists regarding copyright and employment.
