At the 2025 Open Atoms Developer Conference held in Beijing, Academician Ni Guangnan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering emphasized that China has become the largest provider of open-source artificial intelligence large models globally, with models such as Qwen, DeepSeek, and Kimi performing outstandingly in international evaluations. He pointed out that open-source technology is becoming a significant driving force for global information technology development, especially in the rapidly evolving AI field.
Ni Guangnan stated that the trend of open source aligns with the demands of the times and reflects the innovative vitality in the global information technology field. He mentioned that during the "14th Five-Year Plan," China explicitly proposed to expand opening up and promote international scientific and technological cooperation, which has laid the foundation for China's open source endeavors. With continuous technological advancements, Chinese enterprises are increasingly participating in the global open source ecosystem, becoming pioneers of innovation.
According to him, currently, the number of members in the openEuler community has exceeded 2,100, with more than 23,000 developers, and the global downloads have also surpassed 5.5 million. These figures demonstrate China's strong influence in the open-source operating system field and also reflect the enthusiasm and vitality of developers.
Ni Guangnan pointed out that the AI wave is reshaping the industrial landscape, and the national strategy of "AI + " will bring new opportunities and challenges to operating systems. As the foundation of technological development, server operating systems are transitioning into native AI systems. This change not only concerns technological upgrades but also embodies the country's efforts towards self-reliance and strength in science and technology.
