Google has introduced a new AI image generation feature called "Nano Banana" in the Canary channel of its Android Chrome browser. The release of this feature means users no longer need to rely on experimental features or standalone applications; they can directly enter text prompts in the browser's address bar to quickly generate AI images, without needing to switch pages, greatly improving convenience.

In the Android Chrome Canary beta version, users just need to click on the address bar to see an added plus icon. After selecting this icon, the "Create Image" option will appear in the menu. Clicking it will display an action area below the address bar, providing example prompts. Users can also input custom text prompts. After submitting, Chrome will directly generate and display the image within the current page, with a very smooth and excellent experience.
The core technology behind this feature is Google's AI model designed for mobile devices — Gemini 2.5 Flash Image. Unlike Microsoft Edge, which requires opening a sidebar or switching pages when generating images, Chrome's "in-page" processing mechanism minimizes disruption to the user's current task, ensuring a smoother user experience.
To ensure the traceability of AI-generated content, all images created through this feature will automatically have a SynthID watermark from Google. Users can upload the generated images to the Gemini app to verify their source, confirming that they come from Google AI. Currently, this feature is only available in the Android Chrome Canary beta version, and has not been released in the stable or Beta versions yet.
