As tech giants continue to push the development of artificial intelligence technology, Samsung is also actively keeping up. Recently, it was reported that Samsung will integrate Perplexity AI's technology into its voice assistant Bixby in the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. This move is similar to Apple's approach of introducing a multi-model AI strategy for its Siri assistant, marking Samsung's further expansion in the AI field.
According to information released by well-known tipster @chunvn8888 on the social platform X, the new Bixby will continue to handle simple local tasks, such as adjusting device settings and performing basic system operations. However, requests involving complex reasoning or content generation will be handled by Perplexity AI. This division of labor between Bixby and Perplexity can improve the overall performance of the voice assistant, and the user experience will also see significant improvements.
Currently, Apple has already delegated simple tasks to local models through its Apple Intelligence, while complex reasoning and content generation tasks rely on OpenAI's ChatGPT. The success of this strategy has prompted Samsung to choose to collaborate with Perplexity.
Samsung plans to showcase the integrated Bixby with Perplexity at the launch event of the S26 series. At that time, users will be able to experience a more intelligent voice assistant. Basic tasks will be handled by Bixby, while complex reasoning and thoughtful questions will be addressed by Perplexity. Although Apple relies on external partners for some advanced AI applications, it has also made significant investments in its own large language models (LLMs), aiming to launch a cloud-based complex reasoning model by 2026.
