OpenAI has embedded multiple advertising interfaces in the latest Android beta version (version number 1.2025.329), including fields such as "search ad," "search ads carousel," and "bazaar content," revealing for the first time its plan to introduce advertisements into ChatGPT. Currently, this code only appears in testing channels, but it has already sparked user discussions: Is the ad-free experience about to end?
Nick Turley, the head of OpenAI's search business, previously stated that the company does not rule out an advertising model in the future, but will "carefully and tastefully" design the placement methods to avoid disrupting the subscription experience. Based on existing information, advertisements are likely to be first integrated into search scenarios and may only conduct small-scale tests for free users; whether paid users will be affected and when the official version will be released remain without a final schedule.
The industry generally believes that once advertisements are implemented, ChatGPT will form a "subscription + advertising" dual revenue structure, which can alleviate high computing costs and provide brands with a precise communication channel. For users, the ad-free clean interface may become history, and the balance between personalized advertising and privacy protection will become a new focus.
