Recently, NVIDIA and the electronic design automation company Synopsys announced a long-term strategic partnership. The two companies will combine GPU-accelerated computing, intelligent agent AI, and digital twin technologies to enhance engineering design capabilities across various industries.
As part of the collaboration, NVIDIA has confirmed to purchase common shares of Synopsys at a price of $414.79 per share, with a total investment of $2 billion. This partnership will integrate NVIDIA's CUDA accelerated computing platform with Synopsys' engineering and electronic design automation (EDA) tools to accelerate the design, simulation, and verification processes for R&D teams.
The two companies stated that this collaboration aims to address increasingly complex workflows, rising development costs, and the pressure to shorten time-to-market, covering areas such as semiconductors, aerospace, automotive, and industrial engineering. Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, said, "CUDA GPU-accelerated computing is revolutionizing the way designs are done, achieving unprecedented speed and scale in simulations, from atoms to transistors, from chips to complete systems. We can create fully functional digital twins within computers."
Sassine Ghazi, President and CEO of Synopsys, pointed out that this collaboration reflects the growing demand for integrated, AI-driven engineering workflows. He said, "The complexity and cost of developing next-generation intelligent systems require us to provide more in-depth electronic and physical integration solutions, achieved through AI capabilities and computational acceleration."
The collaboration includes fully accelerating Synopsys' compute-intensive applications, integrating intelligent agent AI into the design workflow, using NVIDIA Omniverse and Cosmos to develop next-generation digital twins, and expanding cloud access to GPU-accelerated engineering tools. In addition, both parties will leverage Synopsys' global sales and channel networks for joint marketing initiatives. It is worth noting that the agreement is non-exclusive, and both sides will continue to collaborate with a broader semiconductor and EDA ecosystem.
