Meta recently announced the acquisition of AI wearable startup Limitless, a company known for its smart pendant that supports voice interaction. Limitless has received support from multiple investors, including the well-known venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz and Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI. Limitless's products can record and transcribe in real-time and support voice search, aiming to help users improve focus and memory.

The Limitless team will join Meta to participate in the development of next-generation AI hardware. Before this acquisition, Meta had already made strategic adjustments, appointing former Apple designer Alan Dye to lead the new design department at Reality Labs and shifting some resources from the metaverse to AI wearable technology. Although the financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, Limitless was valued at $367 million in 2023.
Dan Siroker, CEO of Limitless, stated on social media that Meta's new vision is to provide everyone with a personal super intelligence, a vision that aligns closely with Limitless's goals. He pointed out that when the company was founded five years ago, artificial intelligence was still seen by many as a fantasy, and startups combining AI with hardware faced numerous challenges. However, the market environment has changed today, and the future of AI wearable devices seems to be an inevitable trend.
After the acquisition, Limitless will stop selling many of its existing products, including the widely popular AI recording device Pendant (pendant). Despite this, Limitless will continue to provide at least one year of technical support for existing Pendant users. The product is called the most wearable AI hardware in the world, small in size, does not require a screen, and still retains Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity functions, allowing it to be used independently.
Limitless's products focus on AI recording, providing personalized action suggestions based on users' daily activities and past experiences to improve their quality of life.
