Amid the global popularity of generative artificial intelligence (AIGC), what is the true attitude of professional creators towards AI? Recently, the Blender Foundation released the 2025 User Feedback Survey Report, which provides a thought-provoking answer. In a survey of 5,102 professional users, it was found that despite rapid advancements in AI technology, the 3D creation community still maintains a strong "handmade" tradition.
According to AIbase's analysis of the report data, the penetration rate of AI in the Blender community is far lower than expected. The data shows that more than half of the respondents currently do not use AI tools at all, while only 7% frequently use AI in their workflow. This result indicates that in the fields of 3D modeling and digital sculpting, where artistic expression and precise control are crucial, traditional creative skills still hold an irreplaceable dominance.

Among those who have tried integrating AI, their usage habits also show a strong "tool-oriented" characteristic. According to the data chart obtained by AIbase, script writing and automation are the most common applications of AI (accounting for about 22.6%), followed closely by assisting in generating concept sketches. In other words, creators tend to view AI as a "digital apprentice" that enhances production efficiency, rather than a "ghostwriter" that directly produces final artworks.

The Blender user group exhibits distinct characteristics of being "young" and "professional." The survey shows that the majority of respondents are aged between 19 and 35, including many professional artists and designers from the United States, Germany, and China. For this core group of high-loyalty users, the open-source nature of the software and the pure joy of creation (Net Promoter Score of 82.5) are more attractive than chasing AI trends.
Key points:
📉 Very low AI penetration: In the Blender professional user community, over 50% have not yet used AI, and regular users account for only 7%, indicating a cautious attitude toward AI in the creative industry.
🛠️ Concentrated application scenarios: Currently, AI mainly plays an auxiliary role in 3D creation, with the top two uses being script writing/automating tasks and generating early concept sketches.
🌟 Return to core values: The main reason users choose Blender is its open source, free access, and the joy of creation. Its global Net Promoter Score is as high as 82.5, placing it among the world's top levels.
