OpenAI has officially completed the acquisition of the small medical records startup Torch. Although the official terms of the deal have not been disclosed, it is reported by insiders that OpenAI reached an agreement to acquire Torch with equity worth $100 million. After this transaction, a four-member expert team led by co-founder Ilya Abyzov will join OpenAI.

The core members of the Torch team previously worked at Forward Health, which was known for AI-driven clinics. After the company's collapse at the end of 2024, they developed an innovative technology called "Artificial Intelligence Medical Memory Library." This technology deeply integrates fragmented data scattered across medical records, laboratory tests, wearable devices, and various consumer health portals through a powerful context engine.
OpenAI plans to directly integrate Torch's technological assets and team expertise into its newly launched ChatGPT Health service, aiming to enhance the chatbot's ability to analyze and manage individual health conditions by utilizing this integrated flow of medical information, providing users with a more personalized AI health management experience.
