Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced on Thursday the launch of a new platform specifically designed for the healthcare industry - Amazon Connect Health. The platform uses AI agents to automate repetitive administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, medical record keeping, and patient verification, marking a key step for Amazon in the $5 trillion US healthcare market.
Amazon Connect Health is compliant with HIPAA standards and seamlessly integrates with leading electronic health record (EHR) software. Its core advantage lies in reducing the administrative burden on healthcare professionals. Currently, the platform offers patient identity verification and ambient documentation features, while appointment scheduling and patient information analysis are in preview, with advanced features like medical coding to follow.
In terms of pricing, Amazon has adopted a highly competitive subscription model: $99 per user per month, with a maximum of 600 visits per month. AWS noted that this limit far exceeds the average of 300 visits per month for most primary care physicians.
The medical AI field is becoming increasingly crowded. As AWS makes its move, other tech giants in Silicon Valley are also taking action:
OpenAI launched ChatGPT Health for consumers in January 2026.
Anthropic followed up with Claude for Healthcare, which not only provides advice to patients but also offers professional tools for healthcare professionals.
Compared to general AI chatbots, Amazon's solution focuses more on penetrating healthcare workflows through B2B infrastructure. With its previously acquired One Medical clinic business and PillPack online pharmacy, Amazon is building a full-chain healthcare ecosystem from cloud computing power to on-site medical care.
