Anthropic is actively developing a persistent agent solution called Conway, designed to create an always-on, independent intelligent environment for Claude.
According to the information, Conway will have independent UI instances, no longer limited to traditional chat interfaces, but instead running as an independent agent workspace. It can directly operate the browser, connect external connectors, and integrate Claude Code functionality (which may involve Epitax-related features), enabling deeper code execution and task processing. At the same time, Conway supports being called via Webhook, allowing external services or events to trigger the agent's work, enhancing automation response capabilities.

In addition, Conway will support an extension system. Anthropic is about to launch the CNW ZIP standard, allowing developers to easily build custom tools, UI tabs, and context processors, forming an ecosystem expansion capability similar to an "app store." This will greatly enhance Claude's flexibility and scalability in complex tasks.

The emergence of Conway is seen as a key move by Anthropic in the AI agent field, aiming to transform Claude from a passive conversation tool into a persistent assistant capable of running continuously and performing multi-step tasks autonomously. It not only supports browser automation and event triggering, but also enhances code generation, execution, and problem-solving capabilities through native integration with Claude Code.
Industry experts believe that Conway is expected to become a strong competitor to products like OpenClaw, pushing AI agents toward an "always-on" direction. The era where Claude truly shines may be just around the corner.
