Recently, the WeChat platform released an announcement (Issue 6) regarding the governance of "AI-modified" videos, aiming to further strengthen the supervision of inappropriate content and maintain a healthy order in the dissemination of online information. This measure is based on the deployment requirements of the National Radio and Television Administration, aiming to curb some accounts' abuse of AI tools to make subversive alterations to classic TV dramas and animated works.
During content inspections on the platform, it was found that some accounts were illegally posting "AI-modified" videos with improper guidance. These videos distorted the original spirit of classic works, maliciously deconstructed mainstream consensus, and distorted the stories of historical figures and exemplary models, misguiding the values of teenagers and harming national sentiments. Additionally, some videos also maliciously transformed animated characters familiar to minors into taboo and horror versions.
According to relevant national laws and regulations as well as the provisions of the "Tencent WeChat Software License and Service Agreement" and the "WeChat Video Account Operation Standards," the platform has taken strict measures against these violations. As of March 2026, the WeChat platform has cumulatively handled 3,800 pieces of illegal short video content and banned one related account. This governance action demonstrates the determination and responsibility of the WeChat platform in protecting the online environment and user rights.
WeChat also calls on all content creators to enhance self-discipline and work together to maintain a clear and healthy online ecosystem. As the governance of "AI-modified" videos continues to progress, the platform will further improve its governance capabilities to ensure strict crackdowns on illegal content and accounts, ensuring a good experience for all users.

1. AI-modified classic films and TV series such as "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and "Water Margin," distorting the original spirit, subverting character settings, and maliciously deconstructing mainstream consensus;
2. AI-modified stories about historical figures and exemplary models, distorting history, desecrating heroes, misleading the values of teenagers, and hurting national sentiments;
3. AI-modified animated characters familiar to minors, featuring malicious taboo and horror-themed content.
