Cursor team officially released Cursor3, marking a new phase in software development where the development approach has shifted from "human-computer collaboration" to "agent-driven work." The new version builds a unified workspace around agents, aiming to enhance the developer's programming experience and enable collaboration across multiple code repositories.

The core innovation of Cursor3 lies in its "unified agent workspace" design. This design allows users to collaborate with multiple agents simultaneously, whether in local environments or the cloud, with all agents displayed centrally in the sidebar. Users can conveniently launch agents from various terminals, such as mobile devices, web, desktop, and Slack. Additionally, cloud agents can generate demonstrations and screenshots of their work results, helping users more intuitively confirm project progress.

Another highlight is the seamless switching between local and cloud agents. Developers can quickly switch agent sessions between local and cloud environments based on their needs. This flexibility allows long-running tasks to proceed smoothly, and developers can still complete necessary work even when offline.

In terms of code review and team collaboration, Cursor3 introduces a more concise difference view user interface, making code changes faster and more convenient to edit and review. At the same time, the new version retains the core advantages of the Cursor IDE, including full Language Server Protocol (LSP) support, built-in browser functionality, and support for numerous plugins.

The Cursor team stated that Cursor3 lays the foundation for building more autonomous agents and improving team collaboration capabilities. They will continue to invest in IDE development to achieve self-driven code repositories. In the future, Cursor will drive more powerful programming models to open up new interaction modes and help developers use AI more efficiently for programming.

Users can now upgrade Cursor and enter Cmd+Shift+P -> Agents Window to experience the new interface.
