Recently, Microsoft announced on its official blog that it has invited members of the Microsoft 365 Insider program to test the new Copilot collaboration feature in the iOS version of Word. This feature aims to help users interact with AI through natural language, making it easier to write and edit documents efficiently.

Users can click the Copilot icon in a new or existing document and then enter their ideas in the prompt box using natural language. Copilot will generate document content based on the user's instructions, which users can further optimize and adjust. Additionally, Microsoft has provided some practical tips to enhance the user experience, such as using the "/" character to reference other content or using simple undo operations to revert unwanted changes.
In terms of collaboration, this feature also introduces security mechanisms. When sharing a document, Copilot will first display a preview of the suggested modifications in the chat window, and the changes will only be applied to the document after the user confirms them. If users need to undo an action, they can use the undo function or view previous versions to backtrack.
Currently, the use of this feature is still subject to some technical limitations. Copilot cannot create new documents on its own; users need to manually create files or authorize its use within existing documents. Additionally, it cannot directly generate and insert images, so users need to use Copilot Chat for this purpose. Moreover, the feature does not support adding or modifying comments, and replacing content with anchored comments may result in unintended deletion of comments.
Microsoft's Copilot collaboration feature provides iOS users with a more convenient document editing experience, making document writing smarter and more efficient.
