Google has recently announced the deep integration of its generative AI model Gemini into Gmail, aiming to reshape users' email processing efficiency. At the same time, in response to industry-wide concerns about data security, Google has publicly committed not to use users' personal email content to train its underlying AI models.

Creating a Secure Data Isolation Zone

To alleviate user concerns, Google emphasized that Gmail has always prioritized security in its design. All operations when users call Gemini to handle email tasks are completed in a strictly isolated environment, ensuring the confidentiality of data flow.

This processing mechanism is metaphorically referred to as the "private room" mode, where the model only has temporary access rights while executing the current instruction. Once the task is completed, Gemini immediately exits and loses access to the inbox, blocking the possibility of data leakage from a process design perspective.

Feature Upgrades and Trust Rebuilding

Currently, the integrated Gemini can handle multiple auxiliary functions such as email polishing, wording correction, inbox priority sorting, and automatic summarization. Google hopes to attract users with these efficient tools and establish a competitive advantage in the market through stricter privacy standards than its peers.
