Delivering food, medicine, and now managing your health - Meituan's boundaries are expanding again.

On April 14, Meituan officially launched "Xiaotuan Health Assistant," an AI product focused on family health management, marking the company's full entry into the AI healthcare sector.

This move was not made without preparation. Since 2024, Meituan has already deeply invested in "instant medication delivery," establishing a significant first-mover advantage in the home pharmacy delivery segment. The launch of the health assistant essentially builds upon the existing delivery infrastructure by adding AI capabilities, extending upward to integrate low-frequency health management needs into a high-frequency local service ecosystem. Logically, this is a strategic expansion driven by current trends.

In terms of investment, Meituan is also moving in parallel. Its fund has invested in Shenanups and participated in Ziran Medical's financing, while also collaborating with Rongtai Health to explore smart physiotherapy directions. This multi-pronged approach aims to build an AI healthcare ecosystem, rather than betting solely on a single product.

Naturally, this sector is not easy to navigate. AI healthcare has already become a battleground for major players, with internet giants, medical platforms, and tech companies all entering the space, leading to increasingly fierce competition. What Meituan can offer as a differentiator lies in its app ecosystem that covers hundreds of millions of users with high daily active usage, as well as its years of accumulated order fulfillment capabilities in same-city instant delivery - something that purely medical-focused players find hard to replicate.
